The KLIMA-TALER: Climate action made easy and fun

The KLIMA-TALER app creates incentives for a healthier and more sustainable lifestyle that benefits both you and our planet. Whether you walk, cycle, or use public transport, the app automatically detects your mode of travel and rewards you with one Climate Taler for every 5 kg of CO₂ saved.

You can also earn Talers in other areas: saving water, electricity, and heat, living more consciously, and protecting yourself from heat. The app offers plenty of ideas and inspiration.

How to become part of the TU Clausthal team

  1. Download the KLIMA-TALER app
  2. Go to the Teams tab and scroll to the ranking of “Free Teams”
  3. Under “Team Settings”, select TU Clausthal from the list and confirm

What happens to the data?

  • Participation in KLIMA-TALER is voluntary
  • As team captains, we do not see any personal data
  • The dashboard only shows how many participants have joined the TU Clausthal team and the team’s total achievements

How and where can Talers be redeemed?

  • Directly in the app: to offset your own CO₂ emissions
  • At participating local businesses: the Climate Rewards Map in the app shows regional offers (currently limited, but growing)
  • In the Goslar district: the cities of Seesen and Braunlage are introducing the KLIMA-TALER
  • Online: offers can be filtered for online options in the app or on the web
